The existing house is located right next to the church of Heffen, a genuine Flemish village of rare beauty. It is characterized by a picturesque front in stark contrast with a big black side facade. A somewhat strange but rather appealing presence on the village square which - we found - was in no need of an intervention. We therefore decided to keep the old entrance, leading the customers around the house towards the garden at the back, from where they enter the restaurant directly in the open kitchen, which we organized in the barn behind the house. For the dining space we designed a new pavilion: A light wooden structure, stained black, that is positioned freely in the idyllic walled garden.
